Sleep with Peace Project
The Sleep with Peace Project was created to serve an access for growth and development. In 2019 I decided to take on my love for art and created BobbyMari, an artisan handmade apparal line. Within the line are pieces infused with African print dutch wax fabric. The most popular piece is the Sabella bonnet. Lined with satin and coated the African print, the Sabella bonnet is created to protect your tresses.
While creating BobbyMari, I knew I wanted to continue my love for serving communities. The Sleep with Peace Project was created and serves as a giving domain to create opportunities where there are economic or social equity barriers. Sleep with Peace is a campaign to create sustainable opportunities facing economic and social equity barriers. The organizations which benefit from the Sleep with Peace Project are selected on an annual basis.
For every purchase of a Sabella bonnet proceeds from the bonnet are donated to the Sleep with Peace Project. People will purchase a bonnet and sleep with peace, knowing they contributed to a great a cause.
Meet Melissa
Founder and Designer
I'm a city girl, raise in Roxbury/Boston, Massachusetts. I've always loved fashion, creating Ooo's and Aaaah's. For many years I walked on the runway as a plus-model and in 2019 I decided to employ my business and sewing skills as an entrepreneur. BobbyMari is named after my mother and father, combining my father's nickname Bobby and my mother's middle name Marie. I got inspired to drop the "e" when I saw a dear friend's from college middle name was also Mari, spelled as Mari lol. I am really obsessed with double names and I knew this was the perfection for this brand.
I love fashion and I love my Black culture. I am excited share this passion with you!
About The Brand
I created this brand with the intention to showcase Black American fashion including traditional west African fashion. This inspiration birthed the famous Sabella satin lined bonnet. Wrapped in African print fabric, the Sabella bonnet protects your hair from friction while sleeping and can also keep hair perfectly styled during the day.
BobbyMari is an artisan crafts and apparel brand featuring home decor, hair accessories and our newest beauty line. These products include Akua African print drink coasters, Sabella African print satin lined hair bonnet, Adelaide earring collection and the Diva Nails!
